My Activity Tracking

My target 210 kms

I've created this page because I want to make a difference.

In April 2006 while on a family holiday in Florida my son Adam became very sick. He was put on life support at Orlando Children’s hospital and we came very close to loosing him.

I was thousands of miles from home, Adam’s dad was caring for the older boys and I was at the hospital.

The Ronald McDonald House was my saviour. I would return their each night to a comfortable room, a meal and people to talk to. It made the horrendous situation that much easier.

It’s hard to believe as you look at all 6ft2in of Adam that this was the case! I am thankful everyday to have him with me.

I obviously can’t raise funds for the USA but I can for Ronald McDonald NZ.

I have been wanting to improve my own health in 2021 and this will be the boost and motivation that I need!

Every year, thousands of families from around New Zealand will turn to a Ronald McDonald House for free accommodation and support during their child’s medical treatment.

I want to make a difference for these families by taking part in the House to House challenge!

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button.

The more people that know about RMHC® New Zealand, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

Biked to work

Wednesday 17th Mar
Decided to leave the car at home today as I was working locally. Helped add another 9km.

Hot sunny beautiful day

Monday 15th Mar
I was on an early start at work today so I decided to finish early and hop on the bike. I’m slowly getting there and I am feeling fitter. I can’t quite manage some of the hills just yet but my legs and butt aren’t as sore 😊

Had a scootering buddy tonight

Wednesday 10th Mar

Solo ride this evening

Monday 8th Mar
I hopped on the bike while the kids had dinner and rode another 8km to my target. Slow and steady wins the race. I’m not a confident bike rider and tonight was the first time I’ve ridden the estuary by myself. So a small victory. This picture of Adam was taken two days before he got sick. Even though it’s been 15 years I still remember the night like yesterday ..sitting in the front of an ambulance traveling 90 mph down a highway while they bagged him in the back. Imagine being a 10 hour flight from home in a city with no one. The Ronald McDonald charity was there in my most desperate, vulnerable time. Will forever be grateful ❤️

Another 9km off the target

Sunday 7th Mar
Have had a couple of days off as was working late night on call.
Back in the saddle again today for a trip around the estuary and then a de-tour for the youngest support crew to the park.

Day 3 was a wet ride

Wednesday 3rd Mar
It’s a rainy day today. We thought we had missed it but no..Seb and Sofia joined me again x

Day 2 with a couple of supporters

Tuesday 2nd Mar
Took the bikes out for a lunchtime ride. My brakes need an oil as do my joints!

First day done

Monday 1st Mar
Walked just over 7km this morning!
