My Activity Tracking

My target 210 kms

I've created this page because I want to give back.

Every year, thousands of families from around New Zealand will turn to a Ronald McDonald House for free accommodation and support during their child’s medical treatment. And we were one of those families.

I want to give back to the RMDH for these families by taking part in the House to House challenge!

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button.

The more people that know about RMHC® New Zealand, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

My Updates

Something i wrote for a work communications newsletter

Friday 19th Feb

When you have your first baby, and she is taken to the special care baby unit within hours of you having her it’s not the amazing, dreamy start you see yourself having with your new family.

My Daughter was born with a condition called laryngomalacia. A condition causing issues with breathing and feeding. She was failing to thrive, would not feed and struggled to breath. Fed with an NG tube at 3 months old we were sent to Starship where she had to undergo her first operation.

This was the most stressful time my husband I have been through, nothing will ever prepare you to see your new-born baby in a bed in Paediatrics ICU having one on one care. Coughing blood and crying unconsolably. That night my husband and I were not allowed to stay with our daughter.

We have been so lucky to be able to use the facilities at the Ronald McDonald house (RMDH) on the Auckland hospital campus on all our trips to Starship. Dinners were cooked for us, food available for us to cook ourselves as well as tea and coffee, even friendly faces. When you sit in the canteen at one of the 3 houses in Auckland and look at other parents scurrying around you see the struggles on their faces. Everyone is exhausted, stressed, worried about their child, money, time off work. The RMDH gave us somewhere safe, clean and close to the ward to stay. Nothing seems to be a problem for the staff there, they are so helpful and willing to help you. We were given toiletries, use of a laundry as well as a TV in our rooms to help us try and switch off. All of this is for free. When you have a baby, they always say mum comes first – healthy mum = Health baby. The RMDH contributed to us getting through some of the toughest times of our lives so far.

Every month New Zealand families travel an average of 210KM for their child to receive hospital treatment away from home. RMHC New Zealand is challenging us to walk, run, bike or swim at least 210KM while raising $210 during March to help us support families with a hospitalised child.

So, because of my past experiences and in a way to give back I asked my team to join me on the Ronald McDonald House to House challenge.

We are asking for your support – even if it is a $1 or swap your morning $5 coffee to sponsor us. Any sponsorship we get we appreciate. Any support you can give means so much to me and it honestly helps another family.

Thank you to my Sponsors

Good on you Danielle!! Such a special place caring for our precious little ones and their families. I spent time in Karitane hospital seriously sick as a baby and my parents had to travel 2 hours home and back with no where to stay at the hospital with me. Such a blessing having Starship
