Real estate companies across the Manawatu are challenging each other to raise money for a great cause - RMHC New Zealand.
RMHC New Zealand supports families with a child in hospital away from home by taking care of the practical things in life - like providing a place to sleep near the hospital, organising meals and paying for parking - so families can focus on the health of their child.
Last year 396 families from Manawatu and Whanganui stayed at a Ronald McDonald House® for a total of 3950 nights at a cost of more than $670,000.
We challenge you to get behind House to House and help us show our support for our local families!
“DONE - 1000KM’s COMPLETED” - HAPPY! HAPPY! JOY! JOY!Wednesday 31st Mar
Early start Monday Morning to Ride, the last 35km to complete
my 1,000km’s for this Challenge.
6.15am start, bloody dark and raining, not ideal weather to ride the river walkway to Linton (return) However, the He Ara Kotahi walkway/cycle bridge over the Manawatu river was certainly impressive and worth a look. Km reading, start of ride 1st March 8490km’s completion of ride 29th March 9481km’s, 1,000km “done and dusted”. At this stage I have raised $1345.00 for Ronald McDonald House Charities in the Manawatu Real Estate House to House Challenge. Leading on the site for most km’s covered and dollars raised. I would love to get to $1500.00 if you can help? Thank you to my wonderful supporters to date you are all amazing. Such an awesome charity and so deserving. If you can help in the last day click and donate. THANK YOU ALL, SO MUCH, YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!!!!!!!Share
Wellington Scenic Ride.Friday 26th Mar
On Monday 22nd March, Lindy had a meeting in
Wellington so we loaded the bike on the bike rack and I dropped her off at her
meeting then parked up at Lyall Bay Surf Club. As a born and bred Wellingtonian
this was an opportunity too good to miss to visit the old haunt.
I set off and rode around the coast to my old home of Island Bay great riding
past our old homes and schools. I rode through Newtown through the Basin
Reserve to the wharves and headed around to the Cake Tin. From there back
tracked to Oriental Bay and around the coast to Evans Bay onto Shelly Bay, past
Massey Memorial to Scorching Bay, coffee stop there. Then is was onto Seatoun
and a bit more reminiscing around the old Fort Dorset Army Base area. Hardly
recognizable now apart from the old rugby field where I played many games
during my service.
From there it was peddle power through the cutting to Breaker Bay around Moa point and back to Lyall Bay. An awesome ride but sometimes challenging in the Wellington wind.
Interesting that this whole ride was only 45 km’s this actually made me realize how small Wellington is. My normal ride route in Palmerston North is 34 km’s and this was only 11 Km more.
Some Statistics of my ride to date.Wednesday 24th Mar
My ride course of Medallion Court to Linton camp along the
river track is 34km’s return.
This usually takes me between 65 minutes and 70 minutes to complete.
Average speed is between 28 and 30 km per hour.
I have probably spent a total time of 28 hours riding for this wonderful cause.
